A few years ago, a state representative from the Mobile area introduced a bill to again legalize dog fighting. Yes, really! Then we have legislators who may be super-rich land owners, but who have no idea what basic law entails. They pass laws that our state has to defend - using our tax dollars.
We've heard several say they would vote for Adolph Hitler over an Apostle if the former had an "R" after his name and the latter had a "D." Doesn't that make you feel safe in the arms of Alabama politics?
Case in point: Greg Burdine. He was an attorney and fought against Colbert County in order to secure Florence's new hospital. We personally knew Greg and never heard one derogatory remark against him. Yet he lost his office to state trooper Phillip Pettus whose main claim to fame as a legislator is adding still one more capital enhancement to the crime of murder. If you've lost count, that make's 20. Let's also not forget that even though the citizens of Florence pay county school taxes, Pettus assisted in taking away that vote from Florence citizens.
Before you say "Yes, but what is the answer," we have a solution. Why doesn't a conservative Republican candidate with an outstanding knowledge of the legal system run against Pettus this time? Great answer!
Tune in tomorrow...
