There are six districts in Florence, but only five fire stations. Alas, as River Zurinsky pointed out at the last council meeting, the highly populated District 4 has no dedicated fire hall.
There's discussion of a new station, but not in District 4. No, a new station may be destined for District 3 - Bill Griffin's territory. Why?
District 3 may need an improved home, but surely District 4 with no fire station to serve its residents needs one first. Why does anyone think a new District 3 station is logical?
Thanks to River Zurinsky, a former Florence political candidate, for having the intelligence and courage to stand before the council to point this out (we can't say this strongly enough). We firmly believe Mr. Zurinsky is a great fit in the City of Florence. Let's hope he has a bright political future.
As for District 4, Michelle Eubanks had to be absent from the last council meeting. Let's hope she soon tells Griffin just where he can put his new fire station request. There's plenty of room...
