In simpler times, it was pretty much standard to celebrate a Sunday Halloween on Saturday. Times change. When are towns in Alabama celebrating?
Looking around the state, we see that approximately 1/3 of the towns are declaring Saturday the witching night, while 1/3 are specifying Sunday, while 1/3 are saying simply "Whatever cranks your tractor."
What does Florence say? This September statement from Mayor Andy Betterton:
Then Handy Dandy Andy discovered no other mayors are making any recommendations about the holiday. Now per the TimesDaily:
Mayor Andy Betterton said he hoped the post would simply spur conversation so people would decide for themselves when to observe Halloween. "There was lots of pushback on social media about Saturday as an option, but it certainly wasn't a mandate."
There you go...another strong indicator of our mayor's ability to make a decision and stick with it. Are you in Florence now confused? The Florence Police Department is apparently still recommending Saturday, so we're going to go with that. Better yet, stay home and watch Christopher Lee movies while binging on candy corn and Blue Bell!
Andy could use a visit from 'Mr. Whipple'.
