Memphis developer John Elkington has this week issued two announcements. First, more work has been completed on the Slag Yard, a property in the Inspiration Landing complex that ostensibly belongs to Scott Michael, aka Rooster, of Oxford, Mississippi. Sprinklers and more sod have been added; however, the venue's Facebook page is still absent.
Second, a small bar franchise has signed a letter of intent to build in the complex. The Blind Tiger currently owns four restaurants/bars in Mississippi and Louisiana. Insert your LSU jokes here.
Elkington has several signed letters of intent from various businesses, which may or may not be binding. We're sure the developer has promised these eateries and other endeavors that there will be a certain level of completion before they are to move in. Without seeing these letters, we have no idea what has been promised on either side or how binding these letters may be.
Has any other work been started? From what our contacts have told us, the answer is no. At this rate, we're looking at an opening date of c. 2050.
