Safe for the moment are the Florence parking deck, city auditorium/old firehouse (pictured), and municipal building. Also safe is a ton of Florence taxpayer cash.

Florentines have Kaytrina Simmons, Bill Griffin, and Jimmy Oliver to thank for this wise financial move. Was it an easy choice for them?

We doubt it. There is still the problem of a parking deck badly in need of repair. According to many in the know, the city has failed to maintain the parking deck, resulting in the current structural problems. Let's hope Dick Jordan and Andy Betterton get on board with a plan to secure the deck for future use.

What now? Before we see modified plans for this project, will we see a strong new push for the College Street bridge? Are we also about to see a takeover of Florence Tourism? Stay tuned...
