Why Can't Waterloo Get a DG?
A six year-old business article states that there are 1.2 dollar stores for every 10 thousand citizens in Alabama. There are probably hundreds more today. We can't drive 1.5 miles in any direction from our home without encountering a Dollar General. Yet there's no DG in Waterloo? What's that about?
Now Waterloo has no grocery outlet at all - at least until its gutted general store rebuilds. That has to hurt a great many people.
Some time ago we recommended that the citizens of Cherokee purchase from Walmart online. Walmart isn't the only retailer to ship directly to your door, but it's apt to have whatever you need with the exception of fresh meats and veggies.
Here's the link: Free Walmart Shipping on $35.00 Orders!
Unless you just want to use your gasoline to drive to another town to shop, online purchasing is the way to go. It's the way that many of us have been increasingly using and is surprisingly efficient and frugal.
If you've had a great online shopping experience from Amazon or some other outlet, tell us about it. We'll highlight it here for our readers. Things are never going back to 1950, so you might as well drag yourself into the 21st Century!
Oh, wait. Hold that thought. If the government shutdown lasts as long as some say it will, we may be going back to 1900...
