Volunteers Needed at Shelter NOW!

The Florence Animal Shelter is in dire need of volunteers. There is no minimum amount of time one would need to spend at the shelter, but obviously the more the better. The shelter is located on East College Street adjacent to Florence City Cemetery and is open all day on Monday-Friday and on Saturday mornings. Stop by to see how you can make a difference.

We certainly had some interesting comments on the need of a dollar store or similar retail outlet in Waterloo. The majority of our commenters didn't want a chain store in their town. They probably needn't worry. When (and if) the high school closes, that will diminish the customer base even more. The real losers are those who may not be physically able to drive miles to shop for food and other necessities.
