Where Did Those Tuscumbia EMA Applications Come From?

The entire three-person Tuscumbia Emergency Management Agency is retiring. According to an article in the TimesDaily, even though the city's retirement incentive program was to eliminate some positions in Tuscumbia government, all three EMA employees will be replaced. The powers that be are currently screening applications for these jobs.

But where did the applications originate? According to one of our own who follows this sort of thing and who is a resident of Colbert County, no openings were posted via the usual channels. That's right - no positions were posted on the city's website, none was posted on aljoblink, and none appeared in any local news outlets.

Perhaps these three openings were posted on a bulletin board at Tuscumbia City Hall? Or perhaps the process has been strictly word of mouth? We're sure that many Tuscumbia residents would have liked to have known about these positions, but didn't.

Can the City of Tuscumbia be sure it's getting the best employees possible?

Here's an oddity: The first child born at the North Alabama Regional Medical Center was the product of a married couple. Who knows...it may start a trend.
