Sheffield: An Inspiration?

From a Sheffield resident:

How can there be “no digging” on a proposed development site? They’re talking about an amphitheater, hotel, etc., but the wetland will be preserved as long as there’s “no digging”???? Also, who’s paying Sheffield Utilities workers to clean this up? Is the money coming from the $200,000 Brownfields grant, or is it coming from the ever-increasing and locally unparalleled utility bills of Sheffield residents?

So...the “interpretive center” is going to showcase industry in Sheffield from 100 years ago? Why not highlight current industry? Oh, that’s right; there is none. Why is Jimmy Gardiner from Tuscumbia on this board? Why isn’t Sheffield’s representative on the county commission, Tommy Barnes, on it? Thank God for a microbrewery. Without alcohol, Sheffield couldn’t exist.

The scheduled date for construction to begin on the amphitheatre is now October, a scant six to 10 weeks. There has been one delay so far, should we expect another? Let's hope things are finally on track.

But let's ask a very pertinent question. How will the tourists arrive at their destination? Whether they fly in via Muscle Shoals Regional Airport or drive in via Hwy. 43/20/72, they are sure to have an unsavory initial glance at the city. What are the council's plans to correct this situation?
