Rogersville Police Wanted to Shoot Dogs; PD Described as Evil

For several months, a bonded pair of female dogs had been sheltering near the Rogersville McDonald's. Rescuers from Florence had been attempting to catch these dogs, but to no avail. The pair, possibly sisters, were well fed by several individuals, but needed much more. At least one of the female dogs had given birth to a large litter.

Just as things were looking good for the rescuers, Rogersville Police stepped in. Randall McCrary (he recently ran for sheriff) managed to confiscate the young puppies and planned to then shoot the large female dogs.

Finally, the Florence group managed to capture the two dogs and then demanded that McCrary return the pups. At this time, the two adult dogs are safe at the Florence shelter and waiting for a foster home. Only three of the puppies have been returned, and shelter staff believe there may be as many as five more out there.

Why would Rogersville want to shoot the dogs? One person involved in the rescue said: "They're just plain evil."

Any Personnel Changes at Rogersville Police on Monday?

For the past ten days or so, we've been fielding numerous questions about Rogersville Police and Lauderdale County Schools. Obviously, some things are not public at this time, and that causes speculation to ramp up.

The current rumor is that the police officer involved in all this was officially terminated on Monday. Was he? We don't have any specifics to say that he wasn't, but the municipal government was closed on Monday in order to give employees a five day weekend.

We sincerely doubt that the mayor came into his office just to fire one officer. That's our opinion, and we may certainly be wrong.

We'll be posting an update from the Lauderdale school board as soon as it's available tomorrow. Apologies to readers outside Lauderdale who are perhaps less than interested in the shenanigans in the county north of the river.

Also, apologies to Concerned Citizen 101 who has sent us quite a bit of info on problems at UNA. We will be getting that up shortly.

About Confiscating That Vape Pen...

So you're a police officer. You make a traffic stop and smell weed. Or maybe you don't smell it; we have no real idea how MJ oil works in these contraptions called vape pens. No matter, let's say you see a vape pen in the vehicle. You let the driver go and take the pen with you.

Any of that make sense to anyone? Are we missing something? Did the driver/suspect commit a crime and get away with it? Why let him go and keep the pen? How much are those things worth? Apparently less than a ticket or the driver would have complained.

Let's see (isn't Google shopping wonderful?)... One article says $20.00 to $40.00 at regular price, maybe $15.00 on sale. Our own quick search found some for as little as $8.00, while others were going for up to $80.00, but these prices didn't include shipping. You think the confiscated vape pen was one with the fancy enamel with some thin blue line decorations? Hmmm, could be.

So if no one had become ill (wink, wink?), what would have happened to the (maybe) fancy vape pen that wasn't even evidence in a case? Would it have stayed in a desk drawer for a while until it was forgotten and then gone home with the officer in question?

*****

Just in the For What It's Worth Department, it seems the fingertips are the slowest part of the body to absorb chemicals, for obvious reasons. If this particular vape oil is that potent, should the officer really have let the driver go?

That Rogersville Report Ready Yet?

So far, we've heard nothing on the final Rogersville drug report. Exactly what was in the confiscated e-cig? Will anyone ever know if one doesn't file an official request?

*****

We've also had several comments asking who's actually running Rogersville. These readers claim police chief Terry Holden guides Mayor Herston in his daily decisions. Really? Let us hear more.

Are local citizens about to ask for the arrest of a City of Florence department head? This should be interesting. We've asked Prince for a quote:

"Let my people go!"

Rogersville Police/Lauderdale Community Corrections

Do Rogersville Police and Lauderdale County Corrections know where everyone is?

From an anonymous source in eastern Lauderdale County:

Apparently, a Rogersville police officer recently called 911 from his home in Killen, but could not be understood because of his slurred speech from allegedly drinking too much Nyquil (the recording would be available at 911). The Rogersville police chief's son went over to the officer's house in Killen and took the officer's phone from him. The officer then proceeded to get on the police radio in his patrol vehicle and talk to dispatch in an incoherent manner. Chief Terry Holden then responded to the scene. After the episode, the officer was suspended for 3 days, but allowed to use sick leave, so he could still be paid while on suspension. As citizen of Rogersville, I have heard about officers who have been let go for much less. I guess the police chief has his favorites.

From an anonymous source at Lauderdale County Corrections:

Andrew Scott was arrested yesterday morning in Limestone County. He was released on his own recognisance. No word on how serious this will be or what Judge Self will do.

Interesting. Does Chief Holden have his favorites? Comments? And how about Hottie Scottie? He's been back in community corrections for just over a week and has a new arrest(s)? And just why was he in Limestone County? Anyone else think Lauderdale Community Corrections has more than its share of problems? Comments?
