Florence is the Laboratory, Citizens are the Rats?

 

Perhaps you've read of the triplets separated at birth who were raised in very dissimilar homes, or of the male twins where one with damaged genitalia was raised as a girl? Oh, you say, that's very unethical and would never be done again, much less in Florence.

Very true, but how about a sociological study? One in which the subjects weren't manipulated, but one in which the city's history and current status were warped to fit a preconceived theory?

In other words, what if Florence was the subject of a pseudo-study framed in a way to make money and even fame for our unscrupulous researchers? That doesn't sound too appealing, does it?

No, in fact, our unscrupulous researchers wear no clothes, but those who have in the past kowtowed to them have never dared to mention it. Perhaps that's about to change.
