New Charges in Sheffield Attack

Over the years, we've blogged on former Sheffield City Council candidate Sebastian Blu DeVaughn. Last August, Ms. DeVaughn was attacked by two Sheffield residents, Major Julius Rice and Ashli Brianne Perry. Authorities arrested Rice a short time after the vicious beating (it was recorded on video for Facebook), but did not initially charge the 24 year-old Perry.

Now a Colbert County grand jury has indicted Rice on First Degree Assault (upgraded charges) and Perry on charges of assisting her boyfriend. While Rice has been in jail since March 8th, Perry remains free.

There is currently a warrant for Ashli Brianne Perry's arrest. According to her online bio, Perry is originally from Gadsden. She is also pregnant and unemployed.

If you are assisting Perry in hiding from law enforcement, you can be charged with obstructing justice. Do the right thing and report what you know to the Colbert County Sheriff's Office at 256-383-0741.
