Warning: The Intacters are Coming to Muscle Shoals!

 

If you are an anti-vaxxer, intacter, or flat-earther, that is your prerogative. It is also the prerogative of those with an IQ over 12 to laugh at you as we use actual scientific data to point out the dangerous error of your ways. Let's insert here that this is not some Halloween joke, but an actual protest that is coming to a fair city in Colbert County on Friday, October 7th.

The Bloodstained Men are protesting...wait for it...circumcision, along with other modern science that they don't understand. Should you listen to them? We asked someone who toils daily in healthcare:

Any medical procedure has its risks. Weigh the risks versus the benefits. Consider identical twin males with one circumcised and one un-circumcised. We could list a page of possible benefits or problems for each, but this one statistic should be the one to get the point across. Which child is more likely to develop genital cancer? Don't stop there. What are the odds that the uncircumcised male will develop cancer and his circumcised brother will not? The uncircumcised boy/man is 22 times more likely to develop cancer that requires removal of part or all of the penis. The most recent studies indicate that circumcision before puberty reduces the risk of prostate cancer later in life by 12-18%. 

We never thought that die-in at the Lauderdale County Courthouse could look like an intelligent use of time and money. Now at least we've seen something worse.
