If you would like to be part of changing the current child support guidelines, you have a chance:

The next meeting of the Committee will be Thursday, February 7, 2013, in the Mezzanine Classroom of the Heflin-Torbert Judicial Building, Montgomery. The meeting will begin at 10:00 a.m. Parking will be available in the Center for Commerce parking deck with the entrance on Decatur Street (roughly two blocks south of the Building going back toward I-85).

From a faithful reader:

The column on the ambulance bid in Lauderdale County failed to mention a few things like Lauderdale EMS employees having to pay for their uniforms and the Shoals EMS employees do not. Many of the supervisors at Lauderdale EMS have much less experience than the ones they "supervise." There's high priced medical benefits that Lauderdale EMS has to pay when Shoals EMS has individual coverage provided.

Lauderdale EMS trucks are routinely pulled to Colbert county to cover because the sister company Keller EMS fails to keep enough trucks staffed leaving Lauderdale with less units to cover the area they are contracted to cover. There are times when price is not the only factor one should consider when making a decision. If you want your life to depend on the lowest bidder there's a 99% chance you are going get what you paid for.
