Chris Hall Deserves the Support of Muscle Shoals Voters!

Chis Hall is currently a Muscle Shoals City Council member; he is the only one to oppose the soundly defeated increase in property tax. If you're not familiar with Mr. Hall, here's a brief statement on where he stands:

As our local election nears. I must dispel misconceptions being associated with my name. I have no intentions of promoting or reinstating anyone in any capacity that would not bring the best to the table. My intentions have always been to unite and promote what is best for our city and to not ever visit the mistakes of the past.

As your current City Councilman Place 1, I am concerned for our city’s future. I have been wrongly accused as anti-education due to my strong opposition against the property tax increase and my support for the Blake Jarmon defense. When I was not willing to turn my head and deny the will of the people, nor compromise my personal convictions for political gain, I became their public enemy # 1. They have attempted at every turn to render me ineffective.

I am deeply troubled with the changing of the guards within City Hall. I fear the fox is attempting to take up residence within the hen house. The diligence of years of sound leadership has built a reserve to secure the future of our city. We must protect this future at all costs. We must choose only the most qualified to be stewards over such a weighty responsibility. The importance of this election cycle cannot be overstated.

I remain confident in your intelligence and discernment.

Chris Hall, Character and Competency Aren't the Same Thing

Chris Hall is a Muscle Shoals City Councilman; Ed Bowman is a local political activist. Recently Mr. Bowman questioned Chris Hall's track record on accountability and competency while in office; Hall then circumvented the questions and accused Bowman of attacking his character.

Perhaps it does say something about character to take a salary to represent citizens, then fail to do so? Here, warts and all, is the exchange in question:

It’s pretty sad (which isn’t a surprise) when you question your elected officials and they refuse to answer questions that we as the people elected them. Arrogance!

Here’s the questions I ask of Muscle Shoals City Councilmen Chris Hall and below that is his response.

Mr. Chris Hall. I’m assuming that you’re running for re-election for your Muscle Shoals City Council seat again.

You’re asking my friends, family and I to vote for you again but you haven’t been to interested in the things that have been plaguing our great city. Asking the tough questions.
But it seems that since you’re running again you have much to say.

So!!! If you wouldn’t mind taking a moment to address my questions, serious questions, then it would help my family and I make the decision whether to vote for you or not.

Questions:

•Due to the fact that 22 to 23 officers have left the MSPD since chief Clint Reck has been police chief, have you asked why so many have left during Chief Reck’s administration? He’s been chief for only 4 years!

•On September 3, 2019 Muscle Shoals City Council meeting, where I addressed the City Council (you were present) and the Mayor concerning Willie Simpson’s sex halfway house in the Camden Cove west subdivision. During my speech I laid out how the residents in that subdivision have repeatedly called the city council and mayor’s office concerning this, with no response!
How is it Mr. Simpson can run a business out of his house without a business license? And!!! Why haven’t you ask questions on why the residents pleas for answers were ignored?

•I’m assuming were not aware of this! Are you aware (for some time now) that Mayor David Bradford has NOT been living in side the city limits of Muscle Shoals? Are you also aware of the fact that Mayor Bradford voted for the last tax the Muscle Shoals school board wanted, while NOT LIVING inside the city limits? If you were aware of this, did you ask the how’s and why’s?

Being a good leader is asking the tough questions! Being a good leader is standing up for what’s right!

QUESTION:  HOW DO WE KNOW WHEN BRIAN LINDSEY IS LYING?

ANSWER:     HIS LIPS ARE MOVING.

Is there no truth whatsoever that can come from the mouth of current Superintendent Brian Lindsey?  After reading the Times Daily news article, obviously not…unless as with the WAAY 31 interview, he claims to have been misquoted.  Who knows?  Let’s ask a few questions residents of Muscle Shoals:

1.  Why wasn’t the City Council agenda published on the website before the last meeting?  Appears there was a public hearing on whether to approve a referendum for a property tax increase for schools. Very convenient Bradford and City Council…yes, very convenient.

2.  Will this same City Council honor the request to request a referendum for an elected school board?

3.  How much money is the City paying to the school system above and beyond the current rate of 7.5?

4.  Just how long has the School System needed a new building to combine Webster and Highland Park Elementary schools?  More than 25 years ring a bell to anyone?

5.  Why does Lindsey always allude to the building of a Career Academy as the reason there is no money available to construct a new elementary school?  And I quote the TD article, “Building a new elementary school for first and second grade students has been a top capital need for several years, but the school system has not had the funds to take on a building project of that scale since building the new career academy in 2014”.   Top capital need…YES…Top Lindsey priority...NO!  Lindsey and his board of education (and I say that in jest – Education???) need to provide the Mayor and City Council the facts concerning the actual cost of their projects.  I believe it was stated previously they borrowed 10 million dollars for the construction of the Career Academy and the Football field / Practice facility and football athletic amenities.  Of this 10 million dollars, less than 2 million dollars was spent on the Career Academy and the rest was spent on the Football Complex.  We dare you to dispute these facts Lindsey, Bradford and City Council!

6.  So, the additional 5 mils would generate $887,400 per year.  In a previous news article Lindsey stated he and his BOE provided raises last year in the amount of $800,000.  So, isn’t it a coincidence the tax increase requested would cover that amount almost to the dollar?  Just proves this additional tax revenue is not to build a school and just where would you put a building that size at Howell Graves.

Well, we as tax paying, voting citizens of Muscle Shoals must determine who is going to govern this city.  Is it going to be Brian Lindsey and his Board of Education or will it be David Bradford and the City Council.  Although Lindsey, his football coach and his BOE have been in full control for the past years, we the people now have had enough!  If David Bradford can’t govern this city, then it’s time for him to go!  Matter of fact, it’s time for term limits for the office of Mayor and City Council.  As for Chris Hall, kudos to you Sir!  You are a real servant of the people and have the utmost respect of the people and we urge you to keep up the good work you were elected to do.  We can send a clear message to the City Council (excluding Mr. Hall) when voting on this tax referendum!  They can bet a vote against the TAX INCREASE will be a vote against them at election time.  Time to DRAIN THE SWAMP in Muscle Shoals! NO ADDITIONAL TAXES….TERM LIMITS FOR ELECTED OFFICIALS….ELECTED BOARD OF EDUCATION…

 (1) Why would the Shoals Area Central Labor Council and the Alabama AFL-CIO in Montgomery be donating money to a local city council candidate?

 (2) What promises to these organizations were made by Mr. Chris Hall?

 (3) Do Mr. Chris Hall's garage door company employees work under a Union Bargaining Agreement?

 (4) Was there an agreement between Mr. Chris Hall and Organized Labor to try to unseat the incumbent Joe Pampinto in exchange for a monetary donation?

 (5) Is it Mr. Chris Hall's plan to allow Union organization of the City employees?

Just what is your plan, Mr. Hall, and why did you take money from these organizations?
