"But, Ma...They Started It!"

 

 

The AHSAA investigation has begun. What do we know now about the "brawl?" Only what people are saying about the Florence-Bob Jones fight after Friday night's game:

A Florence fan - Florence tried to shake hands after the game. BJ then started swinging with helmets. Coaches got Florence players to go to the locker room when BJ players ran over throwing punches. Florence did NOT start it.

A sports writer - In what was more than a garden variety dustup as the two teams began the handshake line, a confrontation erupted into an all-out brawl in the aftermath of a back-and-forth game that was chippy from the start.

A Florence coach -  These are high school kids who made a mistake. We have filed a report (with the AHSAA), and we are addressing it.

A Bob Jones coach - We’re just gonna go back, you know, and reemphasize being disciplined. I mean, I know how it appears in some way, but we had a lot of kids trying to break it up, and we had some on both teams out of control.
