A reader posted a link to an older news story about a forensic audit of the Memphis Beale Street project. We had seen the article before; basically, it was a great deal of Memphis said/Elkington said. As with many forensic audits, it was difficult to prove what money was designated for private or public use. Memphis recovered nothing in the end.
Certainly John Elkington could have been completely innocent, but many would-be backers remember that debacle and aren't as eager to become involved in Sheffield...we say, Sheffield. Remember the article written by someone attempting to find the Park Place music statue? By the time this group had left Muscle Shoals and was well on its way to Montgomery Avenue, they were ready to turn around and go back no matter what the guide book said.
The lack of recent comment from John Elkington may not imply a lack of interest on his part, but his inability to get funding. Would you want him to say: Well, I've asked everyone I know, and they all think Sheffield is a *&^% hole.
Perhaps Elkington should try for investors looking for a tax loss?

From J. Redmon:
In case you didn't notice, there ARE TWO trains blocking not just the Montgomery Ave crossing, but ALL of the area crossings.
