Fourth Anniversary of Mr. Elbert Davis' Murder

It has now been four years since Mr. Elbert Farley Davis was attacked in his own home. From an earlier blog:

In August 2012, Mr. Elbert Farley Davis Jr. was found unconscious in his Tuscumbia home; he died a short while later of his injuries. We don't think Mr. Davis' attacker originally intended to murder the 88 year-old WWII veteran. Mr. Davis' home was the target for some thug who wanted quick cash and some drugs in the mix to boot.

There's currently a five thousand dollar reward offered for information in this murder. Yes, the thug will be charged with Capital Murder since Mr. Davis died in connection with a robbery. That's a lot of money. Someone knows something.

Mr. Davis was truly an innocent victim. He wasn't a drug dealer, drug user, abuser, adulterer, or gambling kingpin. He simply got in the way of a burglary and paid the ultimate price. If you know something, say something.

We understand the reward is actually much more than $5,000.00. Reward or not, anyone with information should come forward to bring justice to the murderer and at least some closure to the family. This blog never has less than 3K readers a day, and 10K isn't unusual. We believe that someone reading this blog today knows something that will help Tuscumbia Police break this case. What if you die tomorrow and your information dies with you?

Reward for Info in Davis Slaying "Around" 15K

We recently reported that there is a 5K reward for information in the murder of Mr. Elbert Farley Davis Jr, 88, who was killed during a home robbery in Tuscumbia in 2012. The current amount is "around" 15K. We're not sure what "around" actually means, but it's a tremendous sum to many of us.

We heard indirectly from Chief Tony Logan that he appreciated our keeping this in the public eye. We have some ideas on this and are asking Chief Logan to contact us via our e-mail or our FB personal page "Shoalanda Hutton Speaks."

We're also asking that any of our readers who live in Tuscumbia share this post. Someone knows something. We can't imagine how Mr. Davis' family feels at this point. Let's help get this scum off the street.

Some readers don't like the Quad-Cities Daily's article on the Muscle Shoals murders press conference. Perhaps they don't like the photo of the chief? No matter, this publicity will help solve the crimes.

Some don't like the Pen-N-Sword background article. No matter, the more information out there the better to help solve the crime.

Some don't like the Tennessee Valley Talks forum topic. We agree there has been some speculation that is improper, but it will bring more attention to the crimes.

If you want these murders solved and prosecuted, you should be happy they're not being covered up. Believe us, we know some that have been.

Five Unsolved Shoals Murders

The past fifteen months have seen five unsolved murders in the Shoals--four in Lauderdale County and one in Colbert. Most recently, Lula Addison was found murdered in a downtown Florence motel. VOCAL held a candlelight vigil for Ms. Addison last Thursday night at Wilson Park. Florence Police continue to seek Eugene Lee Jones of Bessemer for questioning. The case is now two months old.

Arson in the Central community in Lauderdale County took the lives of three members of the Brewer family last March. Family of Bobby and Sandy Brewer and their nephew Bradley Adams have initiated a ten thousand dollar reward for information on the person or persons responsible for this deadly crime.

Finally, Elbert Davis of Tuscumbia was murdered in June 2012. The murder of the 88 year-old Davis remains a priority for Tuscumbia police, but according to a source in Colbert County, the authorities are no nearer solving the crime than they were in the days immediately following the murder.

It may sound trite to say that someone somewhere knows something, but nonetheless it's true. As our own Florence Police Department preaches, "If you see something, say something."

Another Lawsuit Against Lauderdale Sheriff's Office

Sources say an age discrimination suit was filed last week against Lauderdale County Sheriff Ronnie Willis. It's unknown how many employees, all reportedly female, are involved in this suit, but other new suits are also said to be pending.

This comes on the heels of a second visit from the Alabama Ethics Commission and reports of a third letter sent to various officials concerning Willis. The Ethics Commission has given Willis until the end of February to implement new policies in several areas.

Tuscumbia police are attempting to put together a reward for new information in the murder of Elbert Davis. A 14 year-old boy long rumored to be a suspect in the case continues to be held in juvenile facilities on charges relating to a string of burglaries.

The Letter - Part II

It seems all employees of a certain local sheriff's department have received a letter, or at least a communication which includes copies of a deposition in a sexual harassment case. These letters are in no way connected to the letters several organizations received two weeks ago from a deputy.

Employees of the department are said to have reacted in different ways to this communication. How did the sheriff react? We're told he's been playing the Gorgonite. (If you don't know how Gorgonites defend themselves, they hide.)

A source in Tuscumbia has stated the investigation into the robbery and murder of Elbert Davis is progressing slowly. Currently they're attempting to ascertain if an older youth, approximately 20 years old, may have been involved with the 14 year-old suspect. The younger suspect is reportedly still being held.

Killers at 13/14/15: What Do They Deserve?

Victims: Hollins (13), Milam (13), & Davis (88)

Autumn Maire Wood: 

Crime: At 15 she killed Brooklyn Ann Hollins during an unsupervised house party. Pinning Hollins down, she alledgely beat the 13 year-old girl with her fists before reaching for a kitchen knife and stabbing her in the chest. Wood fled the scene, but turned herself in later that night. Autumn Wood is out on bail and living with family members.

Extenuating circumstances: Wood's father's whereabouts are unknown. Her mother has drug and prostitution convictions. Wood was being home schooled and had little supervision or guidance


Dakota Holt:

Crime: At 13 he killed Dylan Milam, also 13, during an overnight stay. Shooting Milam with a rifle he was using for target practice, Holt initially stated the gun fired accidentally and ostensibly showed remorse. He confessed only after being confronted by authorities over contradictory forsenic evidence. Released from juvenile detention, Dakota Holt is now living with family members and awaiting trial.

Extenuating circumstances: Holt lived with his mother and her boyfriend, a convicted drug dealer. Father was marginal figure.


John Doe:

Crime: At 14 he reportedly killed 88 year-old Elbert Farley Davis Jr. Davis died from a fractured skull and neurological injury due to as yet unpublished circumstances. Killer attended Deshler High School. Reports indicate teachers recognized the youth as being at risk and had tried to intervene. The youth is reportedly in juvenile custody.

Extenuating circumstances: Unknown at this time. We don't believe he will prove to be the child of professional parents who were active members of a local church.

If convicted, the three teen-age killers will be incarcerated until they reach the age of 21. What then?
