Who Says High School Athletics are Leftist?

If you missed this very odd bill from the last legislative session, you've missed a good laugh. Or it would be funny if it weren't so idiotic. 

Rep. Brock Colvin believes immigrant children shouldn't be counted as part of the school census for the first five years of their enrollment. Why? These children probably aren't interested in athletics, and even if they are their families won't let them play - they need to work to make real money to help pay bills.

Why is such an odd bill important? It could reclassify a 6A school as 4A, or even 3A. Rep. Colvin thinks this will even the playing field for North Alabama students who have to compete against South Alabama schools which have few immigrants.

The Alabama High School Athletic Association opposed this bill as...well, utter tosh. Guess what?! An editor at 1819 News has called the AHSAA "leftist" for its logical stance.

Who knew having common sense made one leftist? Here's an idea: Why don't we allow schools to omit klutzes from the census as well? It's a slippery slope.
