Lack of Respect at Rogers High Led to Much Worse

We once read a commentary on an infamous murder that blamed the incident on a lack of common respect and decency. This lack isn't unusual in today's world, and it often leads to much more mundane, but nevertheless unwanted, results in everyday life.

Is this lack of respect found at Rogers High School in Lauderdale County? Absolutely.

Remember our verified account of the young male student who was the victim of attempted sodomy? Why were the 13 year-old perpetrator and his two confederates so bold?

Perhaps they took their cue from the junior varsity coach (we have his name and choose not to use it at this time). How had he behaved toward the victim in the days and weeks leading up to the two incidents?

He reportedly had a nickname for the victim, who was no paragon of athleticism due to his asthma. He called the young boy "Wheezy." What kind of coach, what kind of teacher, what kind of human being does that?

Our answer: Not anyone who should ever be a role model to youth...

When we previously reported on this incident, we stated that the main attacker received 30 days in-school suspension. We were in error. The violent bully received only ten days. Think long and hard about that...

  1. School administrators are soft on discipline for several reasons: 1) they don't want the perp's parents coming and making a scene; and 2) they desperately want to stay off the radar of potential businesses coming into the area; and 3) to garner a better rating on the state"s report card.

  2. And we wonder why we have school shooting And mall and other public shooting! The officials, law enforcement and citizens should think very seriously about this and what it could lead to!
But no everyone wants to ignore or deny this and blame it on guns and the individual and now the parents and not take in to account how someone may have been treated! I think it's time for the citizens to take control because it's obvious the public officials don't care! I wish this young man well as for the other 2 and the coach and the Lauderdale County board of education and the school officials at Roger's School and the School resource officer you should be ashamed!
You'll always have this on your record but I guess you think it's something you can be proud of!

  3. I'd be careful of what u print as facts! U are receivin information that's not accurate! U ever stop to think that maybe the family of all these kids involved are just trying to move on? I can count at least 3 things in your post that is inaccurate, so I'm just saying I'd be careful when publishing things like this in a public forum! Please believe I unlike u am 100% confident in what I post! Thanks

    1. Please enumerate anything that is in error. We'll investigate and correct if we have published an error. As for the four "kids" involved, much of this information came from the family of the victim, and they wanted this sad account published. As for the three perps, we have mentioned no names and don't plan to.
